As we wave goodbye to 2012, a year filled with cheerleaders, paperboys, porn stars and Patti, Broadway.com is ringing in the new year by asking your favorite Broadway stars to share the high point of the year we’ve left behind—and what they’re hoping is in store for the year ahead! Find out what the stars had to say about their resolutions for 2013.
Michael Cerveris (Juan Peron in Evita)
Highlight of 2012: “2012 was an astounding year full of career highlights for me—from singing my friend Paul Sanchez's Katrina-inspired musical Nine Lives in New Orleans and bringing my NYC and NOLA musician friends together to play southern songs with me at Lincoln Center, to an extraordinarily rewarding year with my irreplaceable Evita colleagues and bringing my five television seasons on Fringe and three on Tremé to deeply satisfying conclusions. But most meaningful of all was meeting a hero of mine, former NFL player Steve Gleason of the Saints, whose uncompromising fearlessness, dignity, wit, generosity and fierce determination to live every moment to the fullest, despite his ALS diagnosis, inspires me and puts the struggles of an actor's life into sharp perspective. Steve's charity Team Gleason and its motto, “No White Flags,” resonates so much in these dark days when our friends and neighbors are struggling to recover from natural and human induced tragedies, and encourages me and everyone who hears his story to show up fully for life every day.”
Resolution for 2013: “Care more. Care better. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”
